Peter “Pete” Gotti was the older brother of John Gotti. He allegedly became the acting boss of the Gambino crime family in 1999, and, according to the FBI, the official Gambino boss after John Gotti’s death in federal prison on June 10, 2002.
Peter Gotti was arrested by the FBI in 2002, held without bail, and convicted in two separate federal indictments in 2003 and 2004. Including for (allegedly) sending hitmen to kill mob rat Sammy Gravano in Arizona.
Gravano joined Team America in November 1991, and testified against John Gotti in 1992, telling jurors that he was Gotti’s underboss, helping to get him a life sentence.
Peter Gotti was never again a free man after his convictions in 2003 and 2004. He died in federal prison on February 25, 2021. However, certain people have said that while he was a criminal, he was actually a pretty nice guy.
